Heart of God Church members serving the Stay Home Notice receive a care pack

Several members of HOGC serving Stay Home Notices (SHN) received care packages to tide them over the solitary two weeks. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of the church’s youth to return back to Singapore from where they were working and studying overseas. Complying with regulations put in place to protect everyone else, they all served Stay Home Notices so they wouldn’t unwittingly pass on the coronavirus.

As the situation worsened abroad, Pastor Tan Seow How and Pastor Cecilia Chan immediately called the leaders in the church to action and checked in on all church members overseas. They went through every name, ensuring they had a return flight back home and checked in on them daily to ensure their well-being. Every member’s return date was noted and the team was on standby to make sure everyone reached home safely. The initiative came from the bottom of the pastors’ hearts to ensure the safety and well-being of individual church members, each of whom are considered family, even as the church prepared to decentralise in accordance with new measures.

“Sometimes we joke that being pastors of a youth church is like being parents of many, many children. We heaved a sigh of relief to know most of you are back safely,” shared Pastor How on a post on Instagram.

Once on home ground, the members received a thoughtful care package to tide them over their notice period.

The packages included snacks, healthy Vitamin C drinks, GrabFood vouchers, a succulent and even a personalised card.

“My pastors worked incredibly hard planning for Church decentralisation… But at the end of the day, their hearts are still for each individual member. I’m so thankful to have the best spiritual parents!” shared Jing Yi, returning from an overseas work trip.

With almost all members safe back in home ground, the church continues to provide support to those impacted by the pandemic. In Heart of God Church, no matter the season, it’s always about putting Others first!
