Late last year, my dad attended his first Chinese Gold service! It is a service ran ENTIRELY in Mandarin to cater to our members’ family members who are in their golden years.
There, I saw how the adults who volunteered the Chinese Gold ministry were welcoming and patient with my dad. When some of the older parents needed extra help with walking or hearing, they gladly went the extra mile to help them feel at home. One of these volunteers is Joseph!
Every week without fail, Joseph would message me to say he had reserved a seat for my dad. That really touched me… As my dad is getting older, I was worried that he might be lost if left alone. However, Joseph assured me that he is going to be ok and would always be there for my dad before and after services.
Soon, my dad started Bible Study lessons! I was inspired by his fight to finish the lessons even when he had difficulty seeing clearly. My dad needs to use a magnifying glass to read at times, but that didn’t stop him, and never once did he complain!
After each Bible Study lesson, Joseph share with me updates about my dad and let me know how he was progressing so I could help him at home too.
Seeing my dad go from attending his first Chinese Gold service to having Bible Study lessons… it’s something I didn’t think possible so soon!
